A quick update...

It's been a while and I haven't written anything. Honestly, I have no excuse. Have I really been that distracted? I think not.

Firstly, [info]zootyzoot and I had our engagement party last weekend. (Hooray!) It wasn't very fancy: just a BBQ in which I got to cook for everyone  while Al served drinks. Highlights included Al's cosmopolitans, triple chocolate cheesecake, my mum singing along to "Living on a Prayer" on Guitar Hero: World Tour, and my sister playing with my cousin Rachel's little boy, Corey.

Sadly a lot of people couldn't show even though I tried to give advance warning. I'm trying not to be too bitter about it, but it was a big deal for me. (Who would have thought that your own prospective marriage would excite you so much, right?) Oh well. I guess I know who I'm not inviting to the wedding, unless you pikers make it up to me somehow. MWAHAHAHAHA! (just kidding... maybe.)

Secondly, a resolution: I'm going to take a more active part in fandom. *firm nod* There are too many awesome people out there that I do not know or am otherwise too nervous to approach. It's time to take a stand!

Veering away from making DC/Marvel the majority of my reading/viewing has helped as well. Right now I'm on a steady diet of G-Force: Guardians of Space, Astroboy, Space Ghost, Birdman, the Galaxy Trio and Phantom 2040 between Champions Online and my return to Freedom Force vs the 3rd Reich: harking back to the days when being a Nazi really meant something, and not just being a Republican.

I think this is what LJ is for: releasing all the pent up superhero talk that I struggle to edit out of real life conversation. Thank the gods as well for a partner who doesn't seem to mind when I recite entire volumes of comic book trivia.

The first day of happiness...

I was just tagged by [info]aesmael and according to the internet rules of tagging I must comply, OR ELSE! The rules (which I'm copy-pasting) are that for 8 days you have to post something that made you happy that day. Tag 8 people to do the same.

This I can easily do, but I can't promise that it won't be about the same thing every day. Anyone who knows me out in the real world knows exactly what that something is...

A short while ago I wrote in an entry "I'm fucking gay" in response to an internet stalker. I also wrote that I'd fallen in non-romantic love with a guy I met online, on LiveJournal no less! Both of those statements I can now report are false.

I'm in love. This in itself is potentially painful and confusing, but is made less so when the man in question loves me back the same way. If this were one way for either of us we'd be frightening stalker people in our own right, thinking non-stop about the other and not knowing how to function a day without talking to each other. It's insane.

Reason oft times tells me that I'm getting ahead of myself, but I don't care. Sometimes you meet someone amazing and it turns the world from black and white into colour! Honestly, I'm getting the feeling like I could bounce if I fell, and I can't stop smiling and I wish everyone feels this at least once in their lifetime.

So, the thing that's making me happy today is that I got to spend hours and hours talking with my [info]zootyzoot, that I get to hear his voice and can say back all the sweet and beautiful things that he says about me. And what makes me even happier? Is that I get to talk to him tomorrow as well, and the day after, and the day after that!

But, you know, there are other things making me happy as well. Today I'm rather proud to report that I conquered another obstacle in my battle against agoraphobia and that I now feel relatively comfortable entering a certain fast food outlet in which I lived through some unfortunate events. I've come to understand that ridicule doesn't happen every day and I am beginning to take each incident in stride.

Plus, I'm beginning to like my story a lot more. In the current chapter of Shimmer I'm playing around with a telepath who is trying to steal the narrative for herself. It's fun, and silly, and you can totally see the four colours.

Anyways, I'm sure I'll have more to report tomorrow...

Keep smiling, everybody!

Oh, I almost forgot! I'm tagging people. Since I don't know that many people on the net really well I'm only going to tag 2, meaning there are six tags up for grabs if anyone wants them. So:

[info]zootyzoot

If anyone else wants to join in the happy, you go right ahead.
